Human memory is divided into facts and emotions. Memory is generally perceived as the
combination of facts and emotions. But, we normally remember facts. Emotions
work independently and is integrated with facts during the perception process.
Thus, we need to separate facts and emotions to clarify human memory.
A fact is a continuous process of a certain incident. It is the
same as a video clip. Let’s say there was a car accident. The car accident includes certain
facts about the car accident from beginning to end. A phenomenon is like one
scene that is part of the whole fact and is similar to a photo. These related
phenomena are accumulated and become a fact. In such a way, the whole process
of a car accident is a fact. Our five sensory organs perceive a car accident,
and then emotion gets stirred up and this emotion is related to this certain
fact. When a car accident is recalled, one remembers facts and emotions
together, but in reality one remembers facts, and emotion is generated in one’s unconsciousness.
Man and woman remember facts in the same way. This is already
proved by the neuroscience by verifying that they are stored in the brain. Forgetfulness
or losing memory is based on the work of brain cells. Thus, they will either
remember or forget facts. If they do remember facts, we call this the memory of
facts and it is applied to man and woman in the same way.
The memory of facts works with the memory of emotions. This emotion
is created by a fact within one’s psychology. For a car accident, the facts of a car accident and
the emotion regarding that car accident operate together. So, facts and
emotions can be separated, but people think that they are perceived and
remembered simultaneously.
If we separate emotions from facts, we can see that they work
differently. Therefore, emotion comes from the awareness of thoughts about
certain external information or stored memory, and it is not a perceived
emotion with the external information or stored information recognized by one’s own psychology. Hence,
emotion is created in one's own psychology.
The psychology of man and woman operate differently. Emotion is
created by the working of migenes. The migenes of man and woman
are different, so the emotions that man and woman remember are very different.
Facts are remembered or not in the same way for all human beings, but when it
comes to emotion, man and woman remember it quite differently.
Woman remembers negative feelings and cannot remember positive
feelings whereas man can remember positive moods and cannot remember negative
moods. This is all due to the different working of migenes of man and woman.
If man remembers negative moods and cannot remember positive moods,
what happens actually is not that he remembers negative moods, but that he
mistakenly thinks that he remembers negative moods, which will lead to a
psychological disorder. This psychological disorder of delusion will continue the
state of negative moods without removing it.
This kind of delusion of negative moods is a wrong perception and
not an actual memory of moods. This is
called, ‘the
error of memory of emotion.’ In other word, there is a problem in remembering emotion. There
are ‘the
error of man’s memory
of moods[1],’ ‘the error of man’s memory of negative moods[2],’ ‘the error of man’s memory of positive moods[3],’ ‘the error of woman’s memory of feelings[4],’ ‘the error of woman’s memory of negative feelings[5],’ and ‘the error of woman’s memory of positive feelings[6]’
Human beings only remember emotions based on their experience, so
experience influences one’s psychology. Experience is divided into direct and indirect
experience. Direct experience is one’s own personal experience and indirect experience is obtained
through conversations with others, reading books, or watching movies. These
indirect experiences have nothing to do with oneself, but certain emotion is created
within one’s
psychology.
When it comes to study, when emotion is created based on
circumstances and environments, the academic capacity is varied between man and
woman depending on whether it is direct experience or non-direct experience. In
case of a car accident, the way one experiences it impacts one’s psychology differently
depending on the gender and on whether is direct experience or indirect
experience.
Even if it is not direct experience, it affects one as if it was
one’s own
experience. We call this external impact and this is also indirect experience.
In 2014, when the ship Saewol sank, the whole nation experienced it indirectly
and was wounded as if they were involved in the accident. Here, the people
rescued from the ship, family members, people involved at the scene, and
volunteers had their direct experience.
Also, in case of violence, if one is the victim of violence, it can
be a direct experience, and if one witnesses violence and as a result acquire
the same emotion as the victim, then it is an indirect experience of violence.
One’s own
sexual experience can be a direct experience, but witnessing other’s sexual behaviour is an
indirect experience. The prohibition of exposure to violence and sexuality to
minors is to protect them from the detrimental impact through indirect
experience.
Indirect experience can also create the same degree of emotion as
direct experience does, and it can cause psychological disorders. In this
process, woman remembers negative feelings, but man does not remember it, and
therefore woman tends to have psychological problems but man tends to forget
about it with indifference as time passes, and replaces it with other objects
of fun and pleasure. Woman will suffer from the same impact through her indirect
experience as through her direct experience. But, man remembers only the facts
of his indirect experience and the sense of fun and pleasure from other
objects, so as a result, man may identify violence and sexuality as fun and
pleasure. The same psychological reaction takes place when applying it to
crimes. Therefore, we can see the serious problems of current sex education and
prevention education.
The major cause behind this phenomenon is that the memory of facts
and the memory of emotion are generated separately, and that man and woman have
different memory of emotion. This principle of different memory of emotion
between man and woman can be easily proved with its application to our daily
life.
[1] The error of man’s memory of
moods is a phenomenon where man cannot remember negative moods but remembers
positive moods.
[2] The error of
man’s memory of negative moods
is a phenomenon where once man remembers negative emotion, all information is
processed as negative moods.
[3] The error of man’s memory of
positive moods is when he remembers positive moods and even though there are
many positive moods, only one positive mood operates in his psychology.
[4] The error of
woman’s memory of feelings is a
phenomenon where woman does not remember positive feelings but remembers
negative feelings.
[5] The error of
woman’s memory of negative
feelings is when woman remembers negative feelings, and even if there are
plenty of negative feelings, only one
negative mood operates in her psychology.
[6] The error of woman’s memory of positive feelings is a phenomenon when woman remembers positive feelings, all information she perceives is processed as positive feelings.
